Care & Maintenance

How do I look after my Lectus furniture?
In order to help preserve the texture, color and appearance of your outdoor furniture and fabric, Lectus Design recommends following the care and maintenance recommendations provided. Your diligent attention is necessary for furniture exposed to the elements such as the sun, sea breeze, wind and variance in temperature.
For marine and coastal installation, it is recommended an extra level of care as the salt spray as well as sand can be detrimental to your furniture. Outdoor furniture is best protected with furniture covers or by safely storing indoors during severe weather conditions and seasonally.

Powder-coated aluminum frame
Powder-coated aluminum is a process that creates a durable and protective finish on metal surfaces without using solvents. Like any fine-painted surface, routine care and cleaning with mild soap (pH neutral) and a non-abrasive cloth or sponge, and clear rinsing will keep your painted furniture looking new. See care and maintenance guidelines for cleaning instructions.

Synthetic fibers
Our synthetic fibers are manufactured using raw materials of high quality guaranteeing great strength and durability requiring minimal maintenance. During the production process, the fibers are stabilized with ultraviolet absorbers in optimum concentration (anti-UV), antacids to protect against chlorine attack, and colored with inorganic pigments with high resistant to light making it the perfect choice for humid and salty environments, as well as installations with extreme temperature fluctuations. With unique textures and colors, our fibers are inspired by nature and will allow you to customize each piece. See care and maintenance guidelines for cleaning instructions.

Wood finished products
Each piece of wood in our furniture is handcrafted. The wood used will not expand or contract excessively with changes in moisture or temperature and will age naturally when left alone. See care and maintenance guidelines for cleaning instructions.

Cushions
Cushions should never sit in water or be exposed to water for any prolonged period. To prevent mildew growth and corrosion of any sort, always remove wet cushions from furniture frames. Depending on the climate, furniture application, and frequency of care, the cushions you select for your furniture will add function, vitality and seasonal variation to your environment.

Textiles
The finest weather-resistant materials have been used to make our cushions and in order to provide Lectus Design customers with the best quality in fabrics as well as numerous options in colors and designs.
Lectus Furniture use only 100% solution dyed acrylic fiber. Solution dying is a unique process in which the pigment or dye is added, along with UV stabilizers, while the fiber is still in viscous form. This locks the color in so that it cannot be faded by the sun or bleached out with chlorine. As a further enhancement, we add stain release finishes making it even more stain resistant. Also note that acrylic fabric does not support the growth of mildew.*
Additionally, durability and a great look are added during the process by using only ring spun yarns and staple cut fiber. Ring spinning has long been recognized as the premier method of producing yarns. Fabric made from ring spun yarns are softer and have a more natural feel and look than fabrics made with filament yarns of polyester, olefins or any other synthetic fiber. We also use all two ply yarns which add strength and durability making the fabric more abrasion and spill resistant. Lastly, our fabrics also provides a UV protection rating (UPF) of 50+ which is as high as the ratings go.*
Please note that acrylic fabrics should be cleaned regularly to keep dirt and food particles from accumulating and becoming embedded in the fabric. This practice will eliminate the need for more frequent, vigorous cleanings. Should your cushions become saturated with water, squeeze excess out of the cushions, then set them on their side to air dry in a well-ventilated, clean and dry area. Cushions should never sit in water or be exposed to water for any prolonged period.
Instructions for normal stains: Remove any loose dirt. Prepare a mixture of cold to lukewarm water (do not exceed 100° F) and mild soap. Rub in mixture with a soft brush and allow the mixture to thoroughly soak into the fabric. Rinse well with water and air dry. Do not machine dry.*
Instructions for stubborn stains: Remove as much surface dirt as possible. Soak fabric for 1 hour in a mixture of 1 gallon cold water and 1/2 cup mild soap. Rub in mixture with a soft brush and rinse thoroughly with cold to lukewarm water and air-dry. Never use water over 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Do not machine dry.*
